BBQ Sausage Glaze (Print Version)

Juicy sausages grilled and glazed with a smoky, tangy BBQ sauce mix.

# What You'll Need:

→ Meats

01 - 8 pork or beef sausages (about 1 lb 5 oz)

→ BBQ Sauce

02 - 1/2 cup barbecue sauce, your choice
03 - 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
04 - 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
05 - 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
06 - 1 tsp smoked paprika
07 - 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

→ Garnish & Serving

08 - Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish
09 - Soft rolls or toasted buns
10 - Sliced onions and pickles

# Steps:

01 - Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 350–400°F).
02 - In a small bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, honey (or brown sugar), mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and pepper until well combined.
03 - Place the sausages on the preheated grill. Cook for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and nearly cooked through.
04 - Brush the sausages generously with the prepared BBQ sauce mixture. Continue grilling for another 2–3 minutes, turning as needed, until the glaze is caramelized and the sausages are cooked through.
05 - Remove the sausages from the grill and let rest for 2 minutes.
06 - Serve hot, garnished with parsley and accompanied by rolls, onions, and pickles if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The homemade glaze takes five minutes but tastes like something from a pitmaster playbook
  • It works with whatever sausages you already have in the fridge
02 -
  • Brushing sauce on too early will cause it to burn and turn bitter because the sugars scorch before the meat is done
  • Letting sausages rest for even two minutes makes a surprising difference in juiciness
03 -
  • If your sausages are casing split open on the grill move them to the cooler zone immediately to finish cooking without drying out
  • A silicone basting brush is easier to clean than a natural bristle one and the sauce does not get stuck in the fibers
