Creamy Brazilian Lemonade (Print Version)

A refreshing blend of fresh limes and creamy condensed milk, perfect for cooling off on hot summer days.

# What You'll Need:

→ Citrus

01 - 4 medium limes, scrubbed and quartered

→ Sweetener

02 - 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
03 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar

→ Liquids

04 - 4 cups cold water

→ Optional

05 - Ice cubes, for serving
06 - Lime slices, for garnish

# Steps:

01 - Place the quartered limes in a blender with 2 cups of cold water. Pulse 5–7 times—do not over-blend, or the drink may become bitter.
02 - Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing to extract all the liquid. Discard solids.
03 - Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water, sweetened condensed milk, and sugar to the pitcher. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
04 - Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
05 - Serve immediately over ice, garnishing with lime slices if desired.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It takes literally ten minutes from start to finish, which means you can make it on a whim when friends drop by unannounced
  • The combination of sweetened condensed milk and fresh lime creates this impossibly creamy texture that still feels light and refreshing
  • One batch serves four people generously, making it perfect for sharing without standing in the kitchen forever
02 -
  • Over-blending the limes releases bitter compounds from the peel, so stick to brief pulses and trust the process
  • Serve this immediately after mixing because the lime peel continues to release bitterness into the drink over time
  • What we call limes in English are actually called limão in Brazil, which explains the lemonade confusion
03 -
  • Roll your limes firmly on the counter before cutting to maximize juice extraction
  • If the drink tastes too bitter, a tiny pinch of salt can rescue the whole batch
