01 - Using a small heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out two hearts from each bread slice to yield 12 hearts total. Repeat with cheese slices to create 12 cheese hearts.
02 - Place one cheese heart between two bread hearts to form each mini sandwich.
03 - Spread a thin layer of softened butter on the exterior of each assembled sandwich.
04 - Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place sandwiches buttered side down and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook another 2-3 minutes until cheese melts and bread turns crisp.
05 - Serve warm while cheese remains melted.
